This book is divided in two parts: fairy tales (Beauty and the Beast, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty and Bluebeard) and classic stories (Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Beautiful Princess Magalona, Melusine and The Tempest.). The illustrations are the result of many different publications and projects by the author. This is a real work of art that appeals to all ages.
Rui de Oliveira was born in Rio de Janeiro. He studied painting at the Modern Art Museum, graphic arts at the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) and, for six years, artwork at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, in Budapest. To the present date, he has illustrated 139 books and designed dozens of covers for the main Brazilian children’s literature editors. He has animated six films and received several awards for my work as animator and illustrator. In 2006, he received the children’s literature award given by the ABL (Brazilian Academy of Letters), with the book Cartas Lunares.
